This past week you saw and heard from a young lady venturing into what once was a male dominated business, especially from the outside of the counter.
Her name is Kelly “Big Ticket” Stewart and besides talking the game she gets involved financially at a pretty good pace. Point being we are seeing more and more of the ladies coming forward and rightfully so.
The poker world has seen a drastic change in the “makeup” of the players (although at a slower pace), telling the boys to make room. I did a story quite a while ago mentioning some of the women I have been associated with. Make no mistake, I couldn’t have turned a television on without their help.
Starting with Yolanda Acuna to Michelle Spatofora, Trudy Smuin and Lori Ellefson, their mark was behind the scene and not in front of the cameras. There are hundreds more today and we should bring those names to the forefront. So to all of you masculine bosses let us know who your better half is and maybe we can set up something to show our appreciation.
PS: Tate Katherine Mannix knew more about horse racing, especially pre parimutuel betting, than any person I have ever met.
Trust me you would rather be talking sports with Kelly much more than me.
Take care, Jimmy Vaccaro.
