The best women’s basketball league in the world is about to tip off its 2020 season.
The WNBA’s 12 teams will all play this weekend, as there are three games apiece on Saturday and Sunday. The league will be conducting a shortened 22-game regular season from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
There’s also a new favorite at William Hill to capture the 2020 WNBA championship.
After opening at 7/1, the Seattle Storm have seen their odds improve to 3/1 win it all. The defending champion Washington Mystics and the Las Vegas Aces each were originally 3/1 co-favorite, however both teams are now +375 (15/4).
Besides the Storm, the only other WNBA team to see its odds lower from its opening number is the New York Liberty. The Liberty have shifted from 60/1 to 40/1, boosted by landing Sabrina Ionescu with the No. 1 pick in the 2020 WNBA draft.
In terms of which teams have been the most popular bets to win the title, William Hill bettors have eyed a couple atop the board.
The Aces lead the way with 33% of the total number of tickets, followed by the Storm at 21% and the Mercury at 12%. Meanwhile, it’s the Storm that tops all teams with 36% of the total dollars wagered, with the Aces next at 23%.
Seattle has drawn the two largest WNBA futures bets at William Hill thus far. One Nevada bettor placed $500 on Storm 7/1 for a total potential payout of $4,000, while another Nevada bettor put down $500 on Storm 4/1 for a total potential payout of $2,500.
