William Hill Opens Wagering on DreamHack Masters Esports Event

WILLIAM HILL OPENS WAGERING ON DREAMHACK MASTERS ESPORTS EVENT

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (February 11, 2017) – William Hill has received approval from the Nevada Gaming Control Board to accept wagers on next week’s DreamHack Masters Las Vegas esports event featuring the video game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Bettors at William Hill’s 108 Nevada Sports Books and on the Mobile Sports app will be able to wager on which of the sixteen participating teams will win the DreamHack Masters Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament being hosted on Wednesday, February 15 – Sunday, February 19, 2017 in Las Vegas: ASTRALIS (3/1), VIRTUS.PRO (7/2), NATUS VINCERE (5/1), SK GAMING (6/1), FNATIC (7/1), FAZE CLAN (12/1), NINJAS IN PYJAMAS (12/1), NORTH (12/1), OPTIC GAMING (16/1), GAMBIT ESPORTS (20/1), CLOUD9 (30/1), MOUSESPORTS (30/1), RENEGADES (100/1), TYLOO (100/1), MISFITS (150/1), and COMPLEXITY GAMING (200/1).

William Hill will also be offering matchup wagering on Quarterfinal, Semifinal, and Final rounds of the tournament.

This will be the second time wagering on esports has been legally offered in the United States.  William Hill previously offered futures and matchup wagering on November’s IEM Oakland League of Legends esports event.  In the IEM Oakland League of Legends esports event, eventual champion Unicorns of Love originally opened at 10/1 odds.

Executive Order 2020-41 states in pertinent part that “During the duration of the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamations, the provisions in the Sports Wagering Act, 230 ILCS 45/25-30(f), 25-35(f), and 25-40(i) requiring in-person creation of a sports wagering account at a facility authorized pursuant to the Act in order to participate in sports wagering offered over the internet or through a mobile application, are suspended.”
