As the calendar flips to August tomorrow, UFC kicks off the new month with an exciting Fight Night card taking place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
The main event UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Shahbazyan showcases an undefeated fighter rising up the ranks taking on a fellow top-10 middleweight foe.
After opening at -255, No. 9-ranked Edmen Shahbazyan is currently a -340 favorite at William Hill against No. 8-ranked Derek Brunson (+280). The total for the headliner is at 1.5 rounds, with the under priced at -115 and the over at -105.
Shahbazyan comes in with a perfect 11-0 record, and many William Hill bettors believe that he will make it an even dozen in the win column on Saturday night. Shahbazyan has received 58% of the total number of tickets as well as 90% of the total dollars wagered vs. Brunson, with the latter ranking second among all fighters for Saturday.
This headlining match has attracted the four biggest wagers taken for this card thus far at William Hill, highlighted by one Nevada bettor placing $39,950 on Shahbazyan -260 for a potential total payout of $55,315.40. Brunson, though, has drawn the biggest money line wager for any underdog, as another Nevada bettor put $6,000 on Brunson +280 for a total potential payout of $22,800.
The co-main event also has a notable wager on the underdog, as a Nevada bettor put $5,000 on Jennifer Maia +135. If Maia, who is now +130, can upset Joanna Calderwood (-150), that bet would payout a total of $11,750.
The only fighter to surpass Shahbazyan in total dollars wagered is duking it out in the prelims. Ed Herman is listed at +140 in his showdown against Gerald Meerschaert (-160), yet the underdog has commanded 91% of the total dollars wagered.
Meanwhile, another prelims battle features the leader in total number of tickets, as Jonathan Martinez (-250) has gotten 78% of them vs. Frankie Saenz (+210).
