What began with 24 teams is now down to the final two squaring off for a $1 million prize.
The Basketball Tournament’s 2020 championship is between No. 4-seeded Golden Eagles and No. 22-seeded Sideline Cancer. The Golden Eagles will be aiming to avenge last year’s TBT championship loss to Carmen’s Crew.
Sideline Cancer opened as the biggest long shot at William Hill to win TBT 2020, as it was originally priced at 125/1 odds. One New Jersey bettor placed a $100 wager on Sideline Cancer at 100/1 for a potential total payout of $10,100.
For tonight’s showdown, Sideline Cancer (+175 moneyline) is an underdog one final time. The Golden Eagles are 5-point favorites (-200 ML) at William Hill in the championship, with the total set at 150.5.
The Golden Eagles have several Marquette alumni on the squad, including Darius Johnson-Odom, Andrew Rowsey and Jamil Wilson. Sideline Cancer is led by Marcus Keene, a former Central Michigan star who averaged 30.0 points per game his senior year.
Sideline Cancer’s path to the final game has been a unique one, as it has two wins by exactly two points and two others by double digits. In the semifinals, Mo Creek hit a game-winning shot against four-time TBT champion and pre-tournament favorite Overseas Elite.
On the other side, the closest margin of victory for the Golden Eagles is seven points, but they don’t have a win of more than nine points.
