New York Aces Atop the Board for 2020 Cy Young Odds

The New York Yankees signed Gerrit Cole to a record-breaking $324 million deal, and now the ace has monumental expectations in his first year in the Bronx.

Cole is a 3/1 favorite to win the 2020 American League Cy Young, which would be the first of his career. The former Houston Astros starting pitcher finished second in last season’s voting, behind ex-teammate Justin Verlander. Verlander checks in at 7/1 to repeat, while Boston Red Sox southpaw Chris Sale is close by at 8/1.

Recent AL Cy Young winners Blake Snell (2018) and Corey Kluber (2017) are at 12/1 and 15/1 respectively, with Kluber set for his debut season with the Texas Rangers after nine years with the Cleveland Indians.

Jacob deGrom has captured the past two National League Cy Young awards, and the New York Mets righty finds himself atop the board at 3/1. Three-time winner and Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer is right behind at 4/1.

Young Los Angeles Dodgers star Walker Buehler is currently at 8/1, while his veteran teammate Clayton Kershaw sits at 18/1. The defending World Series MVP, Nationals’ Stephen Strasburg, resides at 12/1 with the St. Louis Cardinals’ Jack Flaherty, who finished fourth in the voting in 2019.
