NBA Futures: Doncic On Top for 2021-22 MVP

Bet NBA with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

The NBA schedule for the 2021-22 season is dropping soon, including the unveiling of the Christmas Day games later today. After a thrilling NBA Finals and an exciting start to the offseason, the new season can’t come soon enough.

William Hill Nevada released its 2021-22 NBA MVP futures earlier this month, so let’s check out the odds and see which players are generating notable action to start.

For the second year in a row, Luka Doncic opened atop the board at William Hill Nevada. Doncic was originally the +550 co-favorite with Giannis Antetokounmpo for 2020-21 MVP, and now he stands alone at +400 this time around.

Antetokounmpo is tied for the second-lowest odds with Kevin Durant at +650, while Joel Embiid is right behind at +700. Stephen Curry and LeBron James, who have combined for six MVP trophies in their careers, are next at +800 and 10/1 respectively.

Curry is the one player near the top of the board who has seen his odds shift slightly, dropping down from +900 to his current number of +800. He leads in total dollars wagered thus far at 22%, with the next closest being Jayson Tatum (30/1) at 16%.

Even with all the early offseason trade rumors, Damian Lillard is listed at 12/1, followed by reigning MVP Nikola Jokic at 14/1. The Nuggets big man opened at 20/1 last year before ripping off his award-winning campaign.

Five more players are in the 20s range: Trae Young (20/1), Devin Booker (20/1), James Harden (25/1), Anthony Davis (28/1) and Donovan Mitchell (28/1).

Tatum is also close by at 30/1, and besides ranking second in total dollars wagered, he’s tops in total number of tickets. The Celtics wing has grabbed 10% in that category, while Doncic, Durant and Young are next with 8% apiece.

One longshot who has caught the eye of William Hill bettors as of now is Klay Thompson. The Warriors sharpshooter resides at 150/1, and he’s already accumulated 7% of the total dollars wagered (fourth-highest).
