NBA Finals Preview: Odds, Trends for Bucks-Suns Game 2

Bet NBA with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

The Suns are just three wins away from the franchise’s first-ever NBA championship. But do William Hill bettors think Milwaukee will bounce back and even the NBA Finals in tonight’s Game 2 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on ABC?

Phoenix comfortably cruised to a 118-105 victory over the Bucks in Game 1 on Tuesday, despite the surprise return of Milwaukee superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo from a hyperextended left knee. The Suns covered after closing as 5-point home favorites at William Hill, while the over cashed after closing at 219.5.

“I’m expecting a bigger handle in Game 2 than in Game 1,” said Nick Bogdanovich, Director of Trading for William Hill US. “The action was pretty good in Game 1—interest-wise and ticket-wise it was on par, all it was missing was some monster bets. But there’s no worries about injuries tonight, all hands are on deck. I think that will beef up the handle.”

The Suns opened at -5.5 at William Hill for Game 2, however that line has shifted. Phoenix (-200 on the moneyline) is now a 4.5-point favorite over Milwaukee (+175 ML), with the total moving from 221 to 220.5.

“We’re high on the Suns,” Bogdanovich said. “Sharps are on the dog though, and so the line has dropped a point. Masses are on the favorite and the over since both paid off for them in the first game. They’ve been treated so well by the Suns in these playoffs that I don’t think they’ll jump off them this series unless they get burned a couple times.”

Phoenix has collected 61% of the total number of tickets and 84% of the total dollars wagered among all spread bets against Milwaukee for tonight’s Game 2, as well as 52% of the total number of tickets and 79% of the total dollars wagered for all moneyline wagers.

That is highlighted by one Washington, D.C. bettor who put $180,000 on Suns -5.5 (-110) for a total potential payout of $343,636.35, the biggest Game 2 bet taken thus far at William Hill.

Where William Hill bettors are most split as of now is on the total. The over has a slight edge in both categories, as it has received 54% for each of the total number of tickets and total dollars wagered.
