Bet college football with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.
Pinch yourselves college football fans, the first games of the season are happening this weekend!
After looking at the available regular season win totals at William Hill Nevada for the SEC and Big Ten last week, we pivot to the ACC. William Hill has 11 ACC regular season win totals up, as Duke, Syracuse and Wake Forest are not on the board.
One intriguing note with the ACC: The two teams with the highest win totals have been the most popular under bets in terms of total dollars wagered at William Hill.
Clemson is tied for the highest win total at William Hill Nevada at 11.5, with defending national champion Alabama being the other. In the past five 12-game regular seasons, Clemson has finished undefeated heading into the postseason.
Yet, the Tigers’ win total has been the most popular under bet in the ACC. Clemson under 11.5 has collected 79% of the total number of tickets and 94% of the total dollars wagered, which leads in both categories.
The only other under to reach at least 90% of the total dollars wagered is North Carolina. The Tar Heels’ under has reeled in 90% of the total dollars wagered as well as 64% of the total number of tickets.
In fact, North Carolina’s win total is the only one in the ACC to have moved off of its original number. The Tar Heels opened at 10, with the under a sizable favorite at -145 and the over priced at +125. It has dropped down to 9.5, with each side positioned at -110.
The two other ACC teams whose under has gotten the majority of the total number of tickets and total dollars wagered are Miami under 9 (69% tickets, 80% dollars) and Louisville under 65 (69% tickets, 87% dollars).
The squad that William Hill bettors are most bullish about surpassing its win total is Boston College. Eagles over 7 went from its original price of -130 to -150, as it has drawn 98% of the total number of tickets and 99% of the total dollars wagered. Boston College is the only ACC team to get at least 90% of the total number of tickets on either side of its win total.
Three other ACC win totals have attracted at least 90% of the total dollars wagered on their over: Virginia over 6 (99%), Pittsburgh over 7 (98%) and Virginia Tech over 7 (92%).
A Nevada bettor laid $9,375 on Pittsburgh over 7 (-125) for a total potential payout of $16,875, which is the largest ACC win total wager taken thus far at William Hill. After Pittsburgh over 7 was first displayed at -115, that over is now at -140.
The biggest odds shift in favor of an over, though, comes on North Carolina State, as over 6.5 has swung from +110 to -135. Wolfpack over 6.5 has received 79% of the total number of tickets and 70% of the total dollars wagered.
