For the first time since January, multiple football games will be kicking off on the same day.
All 32 teams are set to play in preseason affairs over the next four days, with four of them squaring off tonight.
First-round rookie quarterback Mac Jones is set to make his professional debut as the Patriots host Washington. A battle of Pennsylvania foes is also looming, as the Steelers take on the Eagles. Both preseason clashes are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET/4: 30 p.m. PT.
Both of these spreads are tight: The Eagles (-115 on the moneyline) are 1-point home favorites over the Steelers (-105 ML), while the Patriots and Washington are at pick’em (-110 each on the ML). New England had opened as a 2-point home underdog before the line shifted to its current standing.
There’s also been movement on both totals, including one massive swing. Steelers at Eagles has increased by two points, swinging from 34 to 36. Washington at Patriots, though, has jumped even more, as it has undergone a 4.5-point move from 32.5 to 37. Additionally, both totals have racked up a higher handle than either of the games’ spreads and moneylines.
Many William Hill bettors are riding with the underdog Steelers as of now. Pittsburgh has seized 69% of the total number of tickets and 78% of the total dollars wagered among all spread bets vs. Philadelphia, as well as 88% of the total number of tickets and 97% of the total dollars wagered for all moneyline wagers.
For the total, however, the majority of the tickets and dollars are on opposite sides. The under has brought in 62% of the total number of tickets, whereas the over has accumulated 97% of the total dollars wagered. That is highlighted by one New Jersey bettor who placed $25,000 on Steelers at Eagles over 35 (-110) for a total potential payout of $47,727.25.
In the other clash, the Patriots have the advantage with 87% of the total dollars wagered for all spread wagers, though New England and Washington have each drawn 50% of the total number of tickets in that market. The Patriots also have the edge for moneyline wagering, thanks to 56% of the total number of tickets and 75% of the total dollars wagered.
This game also features another over that has attracted a noteworthy wager: a $17,500 bet on Washington at Patriots over 36 (-110) for a total potential payout of $33,409.10. That wager has keyed the over getting 95% of the total dollars wagered despite 50% of the total number of tickets.
