Monday Night Pro Football: TB vs. NYG Preview

Bet NFL with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

The Giants prevented Tom Brady from two more Super Bowl wins back when the quarterback was on the Patriots. Now, New York will try and pull off the upset against Brady’s new team on Monday night.

The Buccaneers are currently 12.5-point road favorites (-800 moneyline) over the Giants at William Hill. The Giants are +550 to win the game outright, and the total is now sitting at 46.5. The spread opened at Buccaneers -10.5, was briefly down to -10 and reached as high as -13.

“We’ve got quite a bit of liability on Tampa Bay,” said Nick Bogdanovich, Director of Trading for William Hill US. “They’ve drawn so much money all year long and they look as good as anyone in the game. Maybe the Giants will get helped out by the wind and get a turnover or two, but Tampa’s the real deal.”

The Buccaneers are generating 82% of the total number of tickets and 81% of the total dollars wagered among all spread bets vs. the Giants, as well as 86% of the total number of tickets and 96% of the total dollars wagered for all moneyline bets tonight.

Yet, the home underdog is the team that drew the largest wager for this MNF showdown thus far at William Hill.

One Nevada bettor placed $21,000 on Giants +13 (-120) for a total potential payout of $38,500. Meanwhile, the biggest Tampa bet is $20,000 by another Nevada bettor on Buccaneers -12.5 (-110) for a total potential payout of $38,181.80.

Just like the spread, the total has also shifted noticeably from its original number.

“We opened the total at 48, and it’s dropped since,” Bogdanovich said. “There’s some huge wind, and that could be a problem. There was wind all yesterday, some games went over with it and some didn’t. I would say the recent move down was strictly weather-related.”

Despite the total going down, the over for this contest has brought in 69% of the total number of tickets and 63% of the total dollars wagered.
