The PGA Tour is about to tee off again, as the Charles Schwab Challenge is slated to start this Thursday.
It’s a strong field that will be vying for a $7.5 million purse at Colonial Country Club. The top-five players in the current world rankings will be among the 144 contenders in Fort Worth, Texas—Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas and Dustin Johnson.
Not surprisingly, the No. 1-ranked McIlroy is the 9/1 favorite at William Hill to win the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge with Rahm next at 13/1. William Hill has futures odds posted for 99 different golfers overall plus the field.
McIlroy and Rahm are also first and second in total dollars wagered for this event. McIlroy has attracted 12%, while Rahm has received 9%.
Yet, a couple golfers further down the board have also been generating notable action at William Hill.
Jordan Spieth is tied for the 10th-lowest odds at 30/1, yet he leads the way with 7% of the total number of tickets. He’s also gotten 7% of the total dollars wagered, which ranks fourth.
Kevin Na won last year’s Charles Schwab Challenge, and is priced at 40/1 to repeat in 2020. Na has captured 6% of the total dollars wagered, including the largest bet taken for the competition at William Hill thus far. A Nevada bettor placed a $600 wager on Na 60/1, which could have a potential total payout of $36,600.
Another noteworthy bet was a $300 wager on Andrew Putnam 150/1, whose odds have since shifted to 100/1. That $45,300 potential total payout is the biggest so far at William Hill for the event.
Besides having 100 different futures on the board for the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge, William Hill also is offering several props, including make/miss cut, top 10 or 20 finishes and even whether there will be a hole in one. All of these are available to bet in Nevada, New Jersey and Iowa.
