The NFL offseason keeps churning along, as the league is planning to release its 2020-21 regular season schedule this week. William Hill has also just released several new NFL futures, including Coach of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year odds.
The Patriots and Buccaneers will be intertwined for the time being, as Tom Brady’s decision to sign with Tampa Bay has impacted these franchises’ fortunes. So it’s only fitting that the head coaches leading these two teams are atop the board for 2020-21 Coach of the Year odds.
Bill Belichick is the 17/2 favorite, followed by Bruce Arians at 12/1. Each of them already has multiple Coach of the Years to his name. Belichick received the accolade in 2003, 2007 and 2010, while Arians was given the honor in 2012 and 2014.
Four head coaches are tied for the third-lowest odds at 14/1: Kyle Shanahan, Frank Reich, Kliff Kingsbury and Mike McCarthy, who is in his first year with the Cowboys.
Last year’s Coach of the Year recipient, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, is listed at 18/1.
For 2020-21 Defensive Player of the Year, Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald is the 6/1 favorite. Donald took home the award back-to-back years, in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
J.J. Watt and Nick Bosa are next at 9/1, with Khalil Mack right behind at 10/1. Watt (three) is tied for the most Defensive Player of the Year awards with Giants legend Lawrence Taylor.
Last season’s DPOY Stephon Gilmore has the eighth-lowest odds at 20/1. The Patriots cornerback was the first defensive back to receive the honor since Steelers safety Troy Polamalu back in 2010.
Besides recently releasing Coach of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year odds, William Hill also has new markets up in Nevada for Offensive Rookie of the Year, Defensive Rookie of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year. The latter three are also up in New Jersey, with Joe Burrow, Chase Young and Rob Gronkowski listed as the respective favorites in both states.
