Sports fans got promising news to start their week, as the Augusta National Golf Club announced Monday that it has rescheduled the 2020 Masters for November. The prestigious event was originally set to tee off Thursday, April 9 before it was postponed in mid-March.
Odds for the 2020 Masters at William Hill have fluctuated since they were released. While 2019 Masters champion Tiger Woods and Brooks Koepka opened as 9/1 co-favorites to be awarded the green jacket, Rory McIlroy is the current chalk at 17/2.
Jon Rahm is behind McIlroy at 12/1, followed by Woods at 14/1. Koepka is now tied for the fourth-lowest odds at 15/1 with Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay.
Other prices for recent green jacket recipients include Patrick Reed (2018) at 25/1, Sergio Garcia (2017) at 125/1, Danny Willett (2016) at 150/1 and Jordan Spieth (2015) at 40/1.
After winning at Augusta last year, Woods is now one Masters victory shy of tying Jack Nicklaus’s all-time record of six. And many bettors are anticipating history on the green in November.
Woods leads all golfers in total number of tickets (6%) and total dollars wagered (8%). Despite a slight tumble down the board, Koepka is second in both categories, registering 7% and 5% respectively.
As expected, the clubhouse leader in terms of odds also ranks highly in each department. McIlroy has ranks fourth in total number of tickets and total dollars wagered, as he’s the only other golfer besides Woods and Koepka to receive at least 5% of the action in both.
Other golfers to reside in the top 10 in the two categories include Spieth, Justin Thomas at 15/1, Xander Schauffele at 22/1 and Rickie Fowler at 28/1.
Some notable bets taken include a $3,000 wager on Cantlay at 25/1 to net $78,000, while another $2,500 came in on Cantlay at 28/1 to collect $72,500. One other bettor placed $1,650 on Paul Casey 60/1, which would take home $100,650.
