The fallout from Tom Brady leaving the Patriots for the Buccaneers has been felt all over the NFL, and it has also had a major impact on William Hill’s 2020-21 NFL division futures.
After opening at -300 to win the AFC East, New England’s odds have dropped down to EVEN to capture a 12th consecutive division title. Meanwhile, the Bills have gone from 7/2 to 7/5, the Jets move from 10/1 to 8/1 and even the longshot Dolphins have seen their price shift to 12/1 from 20/1.
Bettors have been rushing to back Buffalo finish atop the AFC East standings, as 89% of the total dollars wagered and 52% of the total number of tickets have come in on the Bills. On the other hand, just 5% of the total number of tickets and 1% of the total dollars wagered have been on the Patriots.
The public has also been bullish on Brady’s new team. The Buccaneers have seen their NFC South odds improve from 5/1 to 7/4, only trailing the Saints at -115. Tampa Bay has attracted 66% of the total number of tickets, the highest percentage of any team to win its respective division. Additionally, the Buccaneers have drawn 86% of the total dollars, which only trails the Bills for highest percentage of any team in William Hill’s divisional futures.
Besides the Bills and Buccaneers, the other teams to have garnered at least 50% of the total number of tickets are the Raiders in the AFC West and the Cardinals in the NFC West.
