2020 American Century Championship: Odds for Celebrity Tournament Posted

Some of the most recognizable athletes in the world will be competing against each other this weekend… on the golf course.

The 2020 American Century Championship is the 31st edition of this celebrity golf tournament. And the field is loaded once again at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Nevada, including several All-Stars, MVP and even a few Hall of Famers.

The tournament’s scoring system is as follows: 10 points for a double eagle, eight points for a hole in one, six points for an eagle, three points for a birdie, one point for a par and negative-two points for double bogies or worse. Bogies are zero points.

Two-time defending tournament champion Tony Romo is the even-money favorite at William Hill to pull off the three-peat. Former MLB All-Star pitcher Mark Mulder is next at 13/5, followed by former American professional tennis player Mardy Fish and MLB Hall of Famer John Smoltz at 15/2 and 17/2 respectively.

Some notable athletes participating who are still active in their sport include Stephen Curry (12/1), Larry Fitzgerald (250/1) and the man who just signed the biggest contract in NFL history, Patrick Mahomes (400/1).

Jerry Rice (150/1), Ozzie Smith (300/1) and Marcus Allen (500/1) are just a few of the Hall of Famers who will be going for the green this weekend.

Besides having odds up for 49 celebrity golfers plus the field (all others), William Hill also has five head-to-head tournament matchups. Romo is -190 chalk against Mulder (+170), while Curry is priced at -110 against former MLB pitcher Derek Lowe. There are also two score props, over/under 73.5 for the winning score and over/under 57.5 for Curry’s total points.
